You Take The Cake...

Is it Saturday already? How time flies when you're having fun!!  Today I have a card for the Tiddly Inks Challenge. It's a sketch challenge designed by the fabulous Betty Boo.

This adorable cutie and sentiment are from the set called Cherry on Top. I love the cupcakes, but have a tough time coloring them! Just can't seem to get it to blend right. Maybe it's time to get more copics in the same color groups.  hehee!

I added some swirls on the bottom corner. Wish I had some "real" pearl swirls, but I don't...so this is drawn with Sakura Stardust Clear pen, then added Lavender Lace liquid pearls. The pearls came out lighter than I wanted... you know what that means... gotta get more colors!

All Star...

Now, why is it so tough to make cards for boys?? Took me a while to think of what to do, but thanks to some great challenges...I put them all together and got this...
Following Tamiko's challenge, and the toughest part for me on this card was altering the image. It felt so weird to cut off  switch the heads of Dylan and Paul (both from the TGF Roll Call kit)! Even my kids said "WHY did you do that??" Then of course I explained it to them, and "ohhhh" was all they said. lol! Another challenge I followed was Color Me Copic's Challenge #4...take a look at this amazing toot by Amy on straight hair! The basketball is from my son's old sticker collection...which was in a big ziploc bag ready for donation! Luckily I remembered it was there, otherwise I would have been looking everywhere to find a basketball! Sentiment is computer generated and cut out with a Spellbinders label die...the green "ribbon" is actually cardstock! did I fool ya?? hehee!

Wedding Congrats...

Just wanted to share another card I made with the wedding cake that I drew a while back. I wanted to make the cake an ivory color (copic E40) but it turned out a bit too dark...think because of the Shimmerz Butter Cream i used. Anyway, at least it shimmers!

I wanted to add some beautiful prima roses to the card, but then I thought about the envelope...how would it fit?? So I only added ribbon. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use for bulky cards?

Here's the inside of the card...has a pocket for gift money...sentiment is computer generated...

ATS Challenge...

There's a fun challenge over at ATS...to make a corner bookmark! I thought it would be difficult, but not to fear...there's a terrific and easy tutorial to follow!

I chose Miko from the TGF Roll Call kit, and colored her in B&W. One of my favorite color is blue...this pretty ribbon I found at Michael's is a gorgeous teal blue. It was perfect against the white cardstock that I punched and inked the edges with some old teal ink. For the bookmark base, black was the only way to go!
It was so much fun (and easy) to make this, my dd and ds both want SOME of their own! lol! They want to decorate it themselves, I just need to help with the base...and maybe I'll make some more too!

Special Thanks...

It's been so slow for my to get back into making cards. The kids have been back to school for a week now, so finally I found some quiet time to make this card...which is going to someone that I won awesome candy from awhile back. I'm not mentioning her name here, cause I wanna surprise her! But she is super talented and so inspirational!
I tried quite a few new techniques here. First I followed a fantastic tutorial from Color me Copic, made by the one and only Amy Young, on coloring curly hair. All I can say is she makes it look so easy, but I defninitely need to practice ALOT more! I also "tried to" distress the edges...didn't look like it made much difference. Lastly, I used some fabulous Shimmerz on the flowers...think I need more colors now! hehee! Oh..and I followed one of the FFF sketch by Mercy!
